Here in this article we will be discussing the Five Methods of Jeet Kune Do. I will be discussing the Five Methods of Attack individually, and as well I will give examples of each of the Five Methods of Attack.
What are the Five Methods of Attack?
The Five Methods of Attack are the methods of attack that Bruce Lee formulated in the development of the art of Jeet Kune Do. Bruce Lee felt that these were the best methods that you can use to attack someone in a fight.
The Five Methods of Attack of Jeet Kune Do are as listed. The first one is Simple Direct Attack, the second one is Attack by Drawing, the third one is Progressive Indirect Attack, the fourth one is Attack by Combination, and the final one is Immobilization Attack.
Now that we have listed the Five Methods of Attack, let's discuss each one individually. The first of the Five Methods of Attack that we will be discussing is Simple Direct Attack. Simple Direct Attack is and attack in which a person executes a single, solitary attack consisting of a punch, or a kick. An example would be a person executing a straight lead, or a side kick.
The second Method of Attack is known as Attack by Drawing. Attack by Drawing is an attack in which a person purposely leaves and opening to coerce a person to think that, they let there guard down with that, that person will attack. An example of this would be if a person purposely lowered there lead hand to leave an opening.
The third Method of Attack is known as Progressive Indirect Attack. Progressive Indirect Attack is an attack in which you start off by pretending to attack immediately followed by an actual attack without withdrawing the pretend attack. An example of this would be to pretend like you are going to attack with a low shin kick. Immediately followed by an eye jab without withdrawing the kicking leg.
The fourth Method of Attack is known as Attack by combination. Attack by combination is an attack in which a person over whelms there opponent by multiple strikes one followed immediately by another. An example of this attack would be a person striking with an eye jab followed by a cross, a hook, and then a round kick.
The fifth and final Method of Attack we will discuss is known as Immobilization Attack. Now originally this attack was known as Hand Immobilization Attack. Although when Bruce Lee discovered that immobilizations can be used on the hand, foot, and head etc., he changed it to Immobilization Attack. Immobilization Attack is when you immobilize a part of the body etc. hand, foot, head to prevent a person from attacking you, or so that you can attack them. An example of this would be placing your foot on top of your opponents’ foot so that you can prevent them from moving so that you can attack them.
