Young people are the future of our country and the reserve force of the development of martial arts. Wushu Management Center of Chinese General Bureau of Sports is responsible to promote the activities among young people and organize martial art competition. Li Xiaojie, director of Youth Department disclosed the activities and measures of Youth Department in 2011.
The annual Youth Wushu competition and National Competition of martial arts martial arts schools are the regular work of Youth Department. National City Games and promotion of martial arts aerobics in middle and primary school are the priorities of this year.
National City Games which is held every four years is a national comprehensive sports event with large scale. It aims to promote the development of urban sports and bring up excellent talents for reserve. Martial art is a very important item in National City Games. In 2011, Youth Department will undertake the grant event for the first time.
National primary and secondary students’ series of martial arts aerobics is jointly created by Ministry of Education and Chinese General Bureau of Sports and composed by Experts Committee of National Wushu Management Center. With Chinese Wushu as the main content and the setting-up exercises to music as form, it aims to pass Wushu and Chinese traditional culture, promote and cultivate national spirit, therefore enriching the activities of primary and secondary students and strengthening young people’s health physically and mentally.
There are three characteristics in martial arts aerobics. Firstly, it is very interesting with various forms and the meaning of attacking and defending techniques. Secondly, one person can practice it alone or with another by various forms. Thirdly, it not only has the similar function of fitness with setting-up exercises to music, but also has the value in defending oneself from attacking, passing national culture and cultivating spirits.
Based on the movement of Changquan, the actions of martial arts aerobics are simple, lively and including vivid actions, focusing on improving students’ interest in Wushu and cultivating spirits. The music is happy and easy, indicating the vigor and energy during students’ growing.
